International Charter Regulations
  1. This organization was formed by Bob Gregson as a group of gentlemen who enjoy good fellowship, excellent food and superb wine. Black Tie Dinners can be held four times a year....Spring....Pride Day Weekend .... Fall.... Christmas Holiday time.

  3. The Black Tie Club of Toronto and the Black Tie Club International began in 1989. An interested group of men were invited and attended the first reception and dinner hosted by Bob Gregson in 1990. These individuals will be known as the charter members of both organizations.

  5. A committee was formed from the charter members who were invited and attended the first Black Tie dinner in 1990. Founding President - Bob Gregson; Vice Presidents - Peter MacMillan and Gordon Wielenga; Secretary - Jim Webster, (originally Kerry Dawson); Treasurer - Peter Erlendson.

  7. Chapters can be formed in other areas of the world providing the Founder/International President agrees.

  9. Members are required to wear formal attire at all times. (This rule also applies to all guests). No other dress permitted. There will be no exceptions. Guests are welcome however the host(s) must be advised.

  11. Before membership is granted by the President or the committee, the prospective member(s) must be invited to attend one Black Tie dinner function. The invitation to attend will be given by members of one household for the one occasion. Exceptions can be made by the President.

  13. The membership will be limited to as many people as we feel we can handle to keep dinners friendly and manageable. The President or he and the committee has the authority to increase the number of members. A list of persons interested in becoming members will be kept by the Secretary and will be considered for membership as vacancies arise. Membership is on a yearly basis and members are invited 10 rejoin on a yearly basis at the description of the International President and/or the Chapter President.

  15. All members will be expected to host one cocktail reception and dinner. The host(s) will assume the cost of the cocktail party and members will pay for the dinner. Dinners will be held in a private dining room (where possible) at a restaurant or at a members home. Cheques must be sent to the host(s) or Chapter Treasurer prior to the event. Some Chapters may change this rule by having all chapter members pay for the entire Cocktail party and dinner at each function.

  17. When all member(s) have hosted an event, we begin again at the beginning of the list.

  19. An annual fee will be charged for each member to cover the costs of mailings for the newsletter, correspondence and administration. At present the fee is $85.00 single and $110.00 per couple. This can be changed at the discretion of the International President in consultation with the chapter Presidents.

  21. New Chapters can be formed by interested individuals but must be agreed to by the International President. A proclamation will be presented at the first inaugural dinner of the new chapter. A Chapter not conforming to the Charter will have their chapter rescinded at the discretion of the International President. Former members are not permitted to attend any BTC functions.

  23. If a member(s} from another Chapter moves into another Chapter area and if that member(s) is in good standing in their present Chapter, then they shall be accepted as member(s) of their new Chapter.

    The member(s), if in good standing at their present chapter, will be entitled to tranefer their membership to another chapter by requesting their present President to contact the President of where they are transferring to and the following will happen:
     
    1. Providing there are openings in the chapters membership he (they) will be accepted
    2. If the chapter hats a full membership, the transferring member(s) will be entitled to go on that chapter "waiting list as a priority Member(s)" and will receive notices of runners, etc from that chapter
    3. The transferring member(s) will be automatically allocated to the "International Chapter" list until such time as their new chapter membership opens up to him (them)
    4. Presidents will advise the International President what procedure is to take place
    5. The International President in consultation with the chapter Presidents, will have the authority to change this procedure
  24. The International President can amend all rules and regulations. Chapter Presidents' are encouraged to have their own Chapter Charter based on the international Charter and approved by the International President. Chapter Presidents should also form an advisory committee to help them administer the Chapter. eg: Chapter Secretary, Treasurer and Advisory Committee.
  25. The Chapter President and his committee will ensure that the chapter function with regard to their State laws.
